Green Clothing - Vintage and Secondhand

Green ClothingVintage and secondhand clothes have lots of environmental advantages. First of all you are recycling clothes, secondly they are usually local and there is little or no carbon footprint involved in transport, and of course there is no packaging waste as they don't come in plastic or other waste material. And they can even be extremely fashionable simply by virtue of being "vintage."

Green ClothingThere are plenty of places to find great used and vintage clothing. My nephews just went wild with some of my older ties, ones I hadn't work in years or maybe even decades. I never would have guessed they might have wanted them. Similarly, your relatives and friends, especially older ones, may have used clothing they would be happy to have you rummage through to see if you want anything.

Green ClothingYou can also find clothing at stores like Good Will and The Salvation Army. The quality is usually very good, and you'll find things at great prices that you can't simply buy off the rack, at least not easily.

You can also buy vintage clothing online, but make sure it's really vintage, not just new clothing made to appear older.

Green ClothingAnd of course recycle your clothes that no longer fit or that you simply haven't worn in a long time. You might find friends and relatives excited by them, or you might simply donate them to charities.

Every time a piece of clothing gets reused we all win. Whether it's a cotton dress or a polyester leisure suit that would otherwise end up in a landfill, secondhand and vintage clothing is popular, fashionable, and great for the environment.
